Expert: Mike Wells Date: 7/19/2008 Subject: 1990 Sportster cuts out while driving
Question My 1990 Sportster has recently started cutting out on me while driving. For the most part, I could just start it up while rolling and it would be fine for awhile. The last time though, it started back up, but sputtered all the way home. My wife says that the lights were flickering on and off when I pulled in. Any ideas as to what is wrong?
Answer If your lights are flickering then you have a short int he wiring. You need to get a test light and starting at the battery, trace the wires form the battery to the ignition switch and from the ignition switch to the breakers to find the short
