Subject: sportster head gaskets

Question
What is the easiest way to change the front head gasket on my 2000 sportster 883? do I need any special tools?

Answer
Your going to have to remove the tank, rocker covers and head to replace the gasket. You will also have to pull the cylinder, due to the fact that the head bolts also holds the cylinder down. If you dont remove the cylinder the base gasket will start leaking.
If you plan on doing the work yourself then I suggest you get a service manual to follow. The only special too you will need is a ring compresser
Happy 4th
Mike
