Motorcycle Repair - Front fork repair

Expert: Mike Wells - 11/3/2009

Question
I have a 1999 ultra classic, the left front fork has begin to leak fluid. Do I have to remove the forks from the bike or can they be repaired on the bike. Some body told me they could be repaired by removing the tube from the bottom with out removing the complete fork from the bike. How big of a job is this?
                 Awaiting your answer.
                          Thanks

Answer
Your fork seal is probably leaking. You dont have to take the upper forks off to remove the lower fork. You have to remove the oil from the forks, front fender, brake calibers, and wheel. Under the fork there is a allen bolt. remove it and the lower will slide off
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
