Motorcycle Repair/Clutch not engaging

Question
Hello,

I just purchased a 1981 Honda CM400 with 5,000 miles. It was stopped for some time it starts and runs great but clutch will not disengage and kick it in to gear. I have adjusted the cable. I have put a pair of water pump pliers right at the clutch leaver it self open it full and release it but still stays in gear. it has tension to the clutch springs. Don't know what to do next.

Answer
Clutches seize on when not used.  You should be able to free it, get the bike started in gear on a flat open space like a shopping mall car park, and pull the clutch in while blipping the throttle and hitting the brakes.  It should free pretty quickly...  Good luck,  Jan
