Motorcycle Repair - road king handlebars

Expert: Mike Wells - 7/8/2009

Question
I have a 08 road king and want to change handlebars. I have not done any mechanical work in years and was wondering if there are any tricks to changing out the bars. I understand the cover is removed from inside the headlight area.

Answer
Its pretty cut and dry. remove the controls. If the left frip is to tight or glued on you will have to cut it off and install some new grips on the new handlebars. remove the top cover over the handlebars and remove the bolts holding the bars on. Loosen the control screws and the controls will slide off and install in reverse
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
