Answer remove the derby cover then loosen the lock nut then turn the adjusting screw in a couple of turns now you can adjust the cable at the cable adjuster so that you have about a 1/8 of an inch of play at the lever. now back the adjusting screw out until you feel no resistance then bring it back about a 1/4 turn and lock down the adjusting screw and replace the derby cover.
