Motorcycle Repair/C92 cylinder head

Question
Dear Sir, can a CA95 cylinder head be used on a C92E?
 thanks in advance Don.

Answer
Don, you would be best to swap out the whole top end of a C/CA95 to a C92 engine.  The edges of the combustion chambers are chamfered out along the edges to allow for the larger bore. The 125cc combustion chambers are a nice round hemisphere shape, but the 150s are machined out at the edges. If used directly upon a C92 piston/cylinder, there would be a substantial loss of compression and an odd-shaped combustion chamber shape. Other than that, the bore spacing is the same on both engines, so the head will physically fit the smaller engine without difficulties. In some instances, you might have to bore the top engine case out to fit the 150cc cylinder block if you are doing an entire top end swap.

I have owned/ridden/maintained Honda motorcycles for 35 years. I have written five books on Honda repairs and collecting. I was a service manager for two Honda shops back in the 1980s.
