Motorcycle Repair - Honda CB250

Expert: Collin Bradham - 9/27/2006

Question
I have a 94 CB 250 I love it for short rides in town or down backroads but it falls short on the highways, I am interested in an y ideas on how to squeeze a little bit more power and speed out of her.  I have opened up the exhaust, and modified the throttle stop but still can only run about 75.  How much help do you think higher gears would help? and does anyone make a jet kit.  any other ideas would be appreciated.

Answer
Ok, unfortunatly u r simply outta power and not a whole lot can b done 4 this without major engines mods.  I'm also afraid that u may have hurt your original power by opening the exhaust.  There must b some sorta of back pressure there or all u accomplish is making more noise.  I would suggest a jet kit, K&N filter, and a "proper" exhaust.  It will help some, but mostly with "take off".  K&N usually offers jet kits with their filters that r bike specific.  Good luck!
