Question
I have a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO with 1600 miles.  the belt will not release and allow me to shift or stop without shutting off the engine. I have cleaned both pullys very good. It seems the belt is tight all the time. the front pully is releasing real good. I started having the trouble when I was at the Rocky Mountain atv Jamboree this summer. There was a lot of dust in the belt area the first time I took the cover off.It keeps getting worse.

Answer
Hi Larry,

Visit "www.atvfrontier.com" this is a great ATV resource. Post the same question there in the appropriate category. You should get quick and accurate replies.

I haven't experienced that paticilar problem. I would need to investigate the problem to offer accurate diagnosis.
