Question
my nethews bike runs for five minutes then cuts out despite the number of plugs we fit to it we have relaced the cdi and had the stator rewound it fixed the fault temporarily but has returned . Do you know the (ohms) resistance value for the stator in this model .

Answer
Al,

-resistance is futile, I mean resistance checks.
Often parts will not work even if the resistance
checks out. Do you have spark when it quits?
Just stick a spare plug in the wire and check it.
Check that the gas tank vent is clear?
A plugged vent will stop the gas flow after
about 5 minutes.
Make sure the lower carb hose is clear and not plugged
onto anything. Is the kill switch okay?
Check the gas flow from tank.
Is the compression okay on this bike?
The ignition pulse coils and electronic
control units can act up, but I
would check for other possibilities
first if it has spark when it quits.
Check spark plug cap,
check connectors for corrosion and
make sure coils have good ground.
CDI charge coils usually have about 100-
300 ohms resistance. Pulser coils
are lower, maybe 1 to 5 ohms.
