Question Hey I was wondering if there was a way I could take out tracks of a song ---(like vocals, guitar, drums ect., not like song 1 and leave song 2)--- I have Cool Edit pro, and want to do that so I can play guitar along with songs but have mine be the only one so I can see how it sounds a lot better. If I have to get another (paid) program tell me, but I'd rather not. Thank you very much, you are the only multimedia sound editor in the catagory...Thanks a million! -Admiral N
Answer Hi,
I'm afraid that this cannot be done properly, without having the original recording used in the studio when the band recorded the track. The reason for this is that, when a track is recorded by a group, each instrument or vocal is recorded on to a separate track. However, what we get on our CD's is a single Stereo track made up from those individual tracks that were recorded in the studio. There are some programs that try to do this using EQ techniques to remove frequencies found in a single instrument or vocal. But they don't work very well at all, as those frequencies are found in the overall sound, so they just end up making the whole song sound different.
Cheers
