About Gary Housknecht
Expertise
I can answer questions about use of Goldwave or Roxio Sound Editor. These applications can manipulate .wav and .mp3 sound files in nearly any way imaginable and can clean up unwanted noise. Convert from one sound type to another. Ask about other file types, such as .wma, etc.

Experience
Goldwave is the best affordable sound editor I have seen. I have used it and Roxio for a few years. I am not the best at answering technical questions about all the terms relative to wave forms and so forth but I generally know where to get such answers.

Music / Sound Editing - burning music

Expert: Gary Housknecht - 12/30/2004

Question
When I copy a CD and then try to play it in my car I get a lot of "skips, stalls and stops". Store bought CD s play fine. Does the proplem lie in the type of CD I am using, the way I am burning it, or in my car stereo? Thank you for your time and help.

Answer
It is your car stereo. Older car stereos do not play CD-R's well if at all. If it is a newer radio and it advertised the ability to play CD-R media, you might see about a return for a better model.

On the other hand, I occasionally burn a CD-R and have problems like you describe on a good car stereo. I burn another one and it is fine. It is just the 'nature of the beast' I am afraid.
