Question I've been trying to make recordings from the sound mapper (i.e. record any sound going through my sound card) but am having a ton of trouble getting my audio software to detect a signal.
The only recording devices my computer offers me are the jacks on my hardware, and when I select "microsoft sound mapper" as the recording device (using, say, Easy Hi-Q Recorder) I get an error saying "no input sources available from selected sound card". Soundforge allows me to select the sound mapper, but will not detect any signal (I have the sound monitor on) no matter how I alter the levels in my volume control panel.
I've been going nuts trying to find what needs to be changed - are my drivers simply not up to date? Is there some way to reconfigure the "microsoft sound mapper"? Please help!!!
Answer I this may sound obvious but have you checked the Recording input selector and levels in the Properties area of Play Control?
Double click the speaker Icon Click Options then Properties and select recording, then make sure that you have the correct input selected and that the level is up. Then repeat above and select Playback and make sure that item is selected and the volume is up.
Cheers
