Question
Are you familiar with the Schillinger System for Music Composition?  I recently bought both volumes, but I have questions about some things I read in the first chapter.  Unfortunately, almost no one knows about it so it's hard to find any answers.

Answer
Chuck,
I heard about the Schillinger system in college (from what I remember it was written as an aid for Hollywood composers to write a lot of music very quickly, like for background music for movies), but I've never read the books. I'm sorry I might not be able to help, but I do have some ideas/suggestions/options for you:

--You can try asking me your question(s) anyway and I may be able to answer them. We won't know until we try.

--You could try contacting a professor of music composition at a nearby (or distant via email) college.

--You can try moving on further into the book. The part that you are not understanding may be explained later in the book or not understanding this piece may have little impact on your ability to understand the rest of the book(s).

I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can be of any further help.
