Question
Hi! I'm interested in starting my very first composition. I would like to write a short operetta, but I'm not quite sure how to start! Do you have any advice for starting a project? Also, any recommendations for computer software? Thank you for your time and prompt response!

Answer
Meghan,
If you're not quite sure how to start, perhaps an operetta is a bit ambitious at this point. At the very least, start with writing one piece of music from the operetta. Knowing the storyline of the operetta may help if you do not already have a libretto.

With regards to computer software, there is a listing of software at

What you want will probably be in the "MIDI Sequencing/Notation Packages" category.

I hope this helps. Best of luck to you,
Ron
