Question Hi! I'm Laure, from Argentina.
I am starting my career as a singer (though have studied music and singing
all my life), even daring to write my own songs :).
And there's this song in my mind, it's a simple melody that "sounds" chinese
and peaceful. I even have mandarin lyrics for it (I think):
zhen ai deng dai
bai he kai hua he shi zheng dang
zhen ai deng dai xin di an le
See? Peaceful, accepting love. (What do you think?)
And then there's the song, that sounds similar yet more western and
anguished.
Since the "chinese" melody is supposed to be a "base", like a ghost in the
back of the song, and is aupposed to be pentatonic, I am wondering if it is
possible to arrenge such a thing, to mix both melodies? How do I do it?
Also, any sweet sounding chord instruments to play it with?
I am trying to express this duality within me: the extremely anxious, doubtful,
demanding, and the extremely peaceful, accepting, confident.
Any thoughts, ideas?
Thank you so much in advance!
Kisses!
Laure
Answer Hi!
Although I have never heard of this song, I'll try to answer your question. To mix both melodies, you could try to do it by using counterpoint, which may or may not be possible depending on the melodies.
For chord instruments, you could try using the harp, which sounds really sweet when playing chords!
Hope this helps.
