Question My mom heard a song that was sung by a male choral group. She said the title is "Still and Silent Night". She said it sounds like "Silent Night" and then it goes into a "round" by adding another part. I tried to find it online but all I could find was sheet music by Mac Huff. I would love to buy her the CD with the song. Can you please help me?
Answer Hi Tracy!
I suspect your mother may have heard either "Still Nacht" or "Still Still Still." The original Silent Night was in German, written in Austria...and there are at least five or six different translations and melody transpositions. As "Stille Nacht" it would sound very much like Silent Night but just slightly different...and one of the other English word translations could be used. It is popular in choirs as Silent Night was made known to American by a travelling German family chorale group called the Rainers, I believe, in mid-nineteenth century America.
