Musical Genres--Folk, Jazz, Sountracks, More - French Music

Question
Thomas,
This is horribly random and vague, but I used to work in a french restaurant and always loved their music they played. There was one woman inparticular who had a couple songs, but I can't remember her name. She was probably big in the 40's or 50's, and it seems like her first name was pretty short. Does anything pop in your mind? Where would you suggest I search for old french singers? Thanks bud,

ZS

Answer
Dear Sachery

Sorry for the long delay - I was for a few weeks out of the country and therefore not able to check my email. To your question: They most probably played Edith Piaff. She was - in my opinion - one of the greatest singers France ever had. You will find for shure on internet (www.allmusic.com for example) a lot of info about her and other singers from the same periode.

Hope to have given you some help.

Thomas
