Musical Genres--Folk, Jazz, Sountracks, More - Swingin Christmas Program

Expert: Jim Tompkins-MacLaine - 12/15/2007

Question
A local church is having a swingin Christmas program in their church.Would you consider such an event to be spiritual in nature or secular? Thanks!

Answer
If it's a church sponsored program, it's probably sacred carols jazzed up, so consequently still considered "sacred." However, if it's all "Jingle Bells" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," it would be secular. Don't let the "swing" music put you off. . .it's the message that's important, not the beat.
