Question concering aigyx , would you give me your candid opinion ?
It for the first time in 6 years has fallen in the last three months.
thank you
Terry Thrasher
Answer Dear Mr. Thrasher,
Thank you for your question. According to Morningstar, The Alpine Realty Income & Growth fund (AIGYX) fell 2.96% for the 3 months ending 04/30/07, but actually ranked in the top third of its investment category. Accordingly, the issue this quarter does not appear to be the fund. Instead, the real estate sector performed very poorly. With that said, your concern is valid. I am not enthusiastic about real estate funds in the current part of the real estate cycle. Real estate investments have performed extremely well over the past several years, but some of these markets have slowed down considerably. In my view, it will take quite a while to see the bottom in some of these markets.
I do not currently recommend any real estate funds in my mutual fund newsletter. However, if you are interested in mutual funds, you can get a sample copy of my mutual fund publication. You can go to www.mutualfundinvestor.net and click on Try it Free.
Please be kind with your rating, if possible.
Sincerely,
Michael
