Subject: When to diversity?

Question
Dear Mr. de Beauchamp,

I have just over CDN$6000.00 sitting in one Balanced Growth fund.  So far, it's been doing well, but I am thinking of diversifying my portfolio to about 3 or 4 funds.

I would like to know at what amount it would be wise to diversify.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Richard Rinyai

Answer
Richard,

I would stick to one fund. You might want to go to the local library and look over the Morningstar. One good fund is probably all you need. You could also call your human resources department and get all the other prossible funds, since I think this is an employment fund? If it is not, then look over the other funds within the fund group to save on charges, and stay within the same fund group.
