Subject: do you recommend index funds or not?

Question
i hear much of the benefits of index funds for the typical hands-off investor. however, i seem to recall popular author ric edelman advising against them.
what's your opinion? thanks

Answer
Funny thing about index funds, they generally do not perform as good as the index. Also, choose almost any index since 1999, and you would have made next to nothing.

No, choose a good mutual fund without a passive view of investing, and good into international funds. Get a free look at http://wfnn.info mutual fund section.
