I've heard about Open Software, and Free Software, and all those projects that are carried on by people for free.
How does that work? Is it really for free? Why do someone work for free wnen they could do something better with their time? Is there someone behind those projects providing the money? Because there's no free lunch. Someone is providing the resources somehow, right?

Open source v’s propriety
The difference between open source and propriety software is that open source is essentially free, Linux is open source were as Microsoft is propriety.
Why would some do this for free. Well I am dedicating my time answering this question for free, all the forums and articles on http://www.web-application-development.info are free, its there new service which was lunched last week, a team of dedicated web masters are there to write articles and answer your questions for free.
It’s a misconception in this world that people think nothing is for free, Information is free, so is education if you know were to look, I got all of university for free, well sponsorship funding, because I new were to look and who to ask.
Not everyone thinks that things should come with a price tag, in the computer world most things are free, well with the www (world wide web) it is.
Microsoft charge so much for there programs that are wrote by people like me. What do we get for it, a wage and a pat on the back. Gold watch for retirement. Oh joy.
People that write propriety software are working for a wage, who cares if its got problems or glitches in the code, I still got paid.
Now people that write open source software, well they are working for free. They want it to work and work well, they dedicate passion and there time towards this. They believe that the internet should be a free source of information, just like sir Tim Burners Lee had hoped for.
