Question
Hi there,

You might remember I fired off a long question to you last time. This time you'll be thankful to hear my question is mercifully short :)

And it is-

Do you know of any good Mythology forums online? Anything related to Greek/Roman Myth, Legend and folklore.

I'm looking for the kind of highly populated forums with indepth discussions. Most I've discovered through Google barely recieve one message per day.

If you have any recommendations I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thankin' you in advance and regards

Alex

Answer
Dear Alex:

Like you, I have looked for forums -- serious ones in which informed people get involved.  I have found only sites that seemingly start with mythology and wander off into other areas:  the occult, general "rants" on topics that are only remotely related to myths, and game sites, e.g., sites for active game players that "seem" to be mythologically based.

In short, I can recommend no forums to you.

Here is a collection of legitimate websites that I have gathered and annotated.  Note that there are "warnings" for some of them, especially toward the end of the list.

In some other areas -- Shakespeare, for instance -- there are "web rings."  People who have developed their own sites can join a ring, so that there is a collection of sites interrelated.  I have yet to find a mythology web ring.

I hope this little bit of information helps you.

If I find any forums, I will let you know.
