Mythology - Damon & Pythias

Expert: Irulan Serena - 12/19/2003

Question
Do you know the story of Damon & Pythias?  Apparently there is a Greek/Roman myth of these two friends who go Syracuse.  Pythias is condemned to death and Damon stays in Syracuse to permit Pythias to return home to put his life in order before he dies.  He returns and Dionysius is so impressed by their loyalty that he grants him pardon.  I want to find a printed version of this story.  Is it possible?

Answer
Hello Cleve,

The story is told in play format.  Here is one site that will give you the play.

There was another play about these two friends written by Richard Edwards during the Elizabethan Era.

Here is the link that will give this to you.
