AboutIrulan Serena Expertise Able to answer any question dealing with Greco-Roman mythology. Experience comes from teaching classical literature in all levels of the school curriculum from middle school to university level for thirty-eight years.
When I was first introduced to Greek Mythology I ran across an illustration (it may have been in a 30's or 40's edition of Bullfinch's)of a 'Greek demon' that was either so greedy or so hungry that it ate the world including itself and nothing was left but its face. There was just the illustration and the one or two sentence tale, no story or further explanation.
Alas, I am unable to find any reference to it at all. Do you know of such a mythological creature? I would like to know its name and any further information there might be regarding it.
Thank you in advance,
RWR
Answer Dear RWR,
I have been researching possible answers for your questions and have not been able to find any reference to the daemon/ deamon/ daimon you mention. I have an extensive mythological library, which I have perused, however I have not been able to find either a reference or the illustration. Because my research library is rather large, I have yet to search in other obscure sources, so I will continue to search and if it can be found, I will let you know.
