AboutIrulan Serena Expertise Able to answer any question dealing with Greco-Roman mythology. Experience comes from teaching classical literature in all levels of the school curriculum from middle school to university level for thirty-eight years.
Question I had a question relating to the field of mythology as a whole... I myself have engrossed myself in learning all about Greko-Roman, Egyptian, and Norse mythology, and I am getting near the age where I must think of careers (next year I'll be a Senior at my high school)... do you know of any specific careers dealing with mythology or focusing around it. It is a passion I have always had, and an expertise of mine. I really would love to dedicate my life to sharing my knowledge of it and of finding more facts of how important it was on todays world as well as in the past. If you could help me at all I would be incredibly grateful!
Answer Hello Brittany,
I can understand your passion because I too have the share the same passion.
I found a perfect outlet for my love of mythology through the education profession. I taught classical literature [which is teaching the ancient Greco-roman mythologies] at the high school and college levels of the educational field for 38 years.
It was extraordinarily rewarding inasmuch as I brought a 'new world' of ideas and philosophies to a multitude of students.
I retired two years ago and still hear from many of my students whose fascination for mytholgy began in one of my classes. Many of my students have also become educators and many have chosen to teach as I taught, classical literature.
I strongly suggest you look into the the educational field for a variety of reasons but the most important one is that you will be sharing this passion with others.
