Mythology - Roman Mythology

Expert: Irulan Serena - 3/16/2006

Question
Why is there Greek and Roman Mythology if they have most of the same gods?

Answer
Roman mythology was syncretized from Greek mythology.

AEneas was a Greek prince during the Trojan war, the war between two Greek city-states.

When AEneas left a defeated Troy he and his followers left Troy and traveled to Latium [Italy] where he settled and eventually his descendats founded Rome.  Greek culture and religion thus traveled from Greece to Rome.
