Question My 11 year old was given an extra credit assignment to go on the internet and find out how big the trojan horse was. He has searched diligently as have I but can find nothing giving a description of the actual size of the horse. Do you know and can you tell me a website that tells?
Answer Russ,
As far as I know there is no detailed description of the Trojan Horse other than what Homer wrote on The Iliad, the history/myth [??] of the Trojan War and its tragic end.
“Epeius 2 made the Trojan Horse big like a ship. He decorated the purple-fringed mane with gold; ringed the blood-red amethyst eyes with green beryl gems; set white rows of teeth in the jaws; opened paths in the mouth to let the air come in; fixed pricked up ears; let the flowing tail trail unto the heels; made the hooves of bronze; set a ladder inside and adorned the outside with purple-flowered straps, and the bridle with ivory and bronze.
When the horse was finished, Epeius set a wheel under each of its feet to transport it easily to the gates of Troy.
