About Coy Jordan
Expertise
I can answer any questions about drivers, cars, crews, teams, shops, championchips and any technical question about the rules and regulations of NASCAR. The only question I might not be able to answer is one that deals with the small parts inside the car that help the car's performance, but the stuff such as the body, engine, and spoiler are easy.

Subject: Pit Road Exit - Tie?

Question
Under a green flag condition, how does NASCAR score the car/driver if they exit pit road at the 'exact' same time?  Has it ever happened?

Answer
Hi Lori,

To the naked eye, a lot of ties have occured on exiting pit road.  But NASCAR has two tools it uses to break the ties.  First they have a super slow motion camera set straight across the line to visually determine who was first.  Secondly, they have a timing strip below the track that registers their cars as the cross the line. With these two instruments in use, there has never been a tie.
Hope i helped!
Coy Jordan
