Subject: Drivers share of the Purse

Question
When we check  the sports page every weekend the money earnings of each drivers, it run by hundreds of thousands to millions. Are these earnings are for the drivers alone or won by the team. If they are shared, what is the drivers percentage of the published earnings?
Also on exclusive sponsorship like Fedex with Denny and Home Depot for Tony do they get paid personally by the sponsors?   Thanks a lot.

Answer
Every driver has their own contract with what percentage of the purse goes to him. This is a closely guarded secret akin to asking someone what they make. Again, drivers are paid for personal appearances and commercials by their sponsors, what percentage of the annual sponsorship money goes to the driver is a closely guarded secret.
Can't give you a better answer than that because it is bad manners to ask someone what they make.
