Question I'm trying to figure out my first ever race. I believe it was the early to mid 80.s at Rockinghamn. If I remember correct Bill Elliott won the race, While Cale yarborro wrecked out; if you could help me I would appreciate it.
Answer Elliott won twice at Rockingham, once in 1984, but Yarborough did not run in that race, and once in 1987. Yarborough is listed as having left the race due to engine failure. When Yarborough cooked his engine he slowed dramatically. Buddy Baker and Geoff Bodine collided while trying to avoid him and Bobby Wawak, Curtis Markham and Mark Stahl all got involved, too. Both races were October races.
