Question
Friday Hassler was one of the great independent Chevrolet driver/owners of the late 60's till his death at Daytona.  He was all Chevrolet in era filled with Mopars & Fords.  Is there ANY type of memorial to this stalwart driver ?  I hope he is remembered at the new Nascar Hall of Fame. Thank you !!  Ray

Answer
Sorry, but as far as I could find there is no Friday Hassler memorial. Unfortunately, the independent drivers get overlooked in NASCAR history. Everybody has an independent driver that was a favorite (I was a CooCoo Marlin fan) and everybody feels their favorite deserves a memorial, a shrine, or some recognition. Unless one of those fans decides to start that memorial it is not likely to happen. Will he be remembered in the Hall of Fame? He might get a blurb about his co-driver win at the fastest Bristol race ever run but that will probably be about it.
