About Coy Jordan
Expertise
I can answer any questions about drivers, cars, crews, teams, shops, championchips and any technical question about the rules and regulations of NASCAR. The only question I might not be able to answer is one that deals with the small parts inside the car that help the car's performance, but the stuff such as the body, engine, and spoiler are easy.

NASCAR Racing - lugnuts

Expert: Coy Jordan - 4/4/2009

Question
When a driver makes a pit stop and changes tires, what happens to the old lug nuts when the old tires are taken off the vehicle?

Answer
Hi Steve,

When the lugnuts are taken off, they usually fall to the ground and sit there until the end of the pit cycle.  Once all the cars are through, a crew person will go through and sweep up the lugnuts and any other debris in the pit stall.

Hope i helped!
Coy Jordan
