Nail Care & Manicures/Glue

Question
Hi Heather, Most of my clients want tips with acrylic. I use a uv cured acrylic and I am going to purchase a orderless air dry soon. I was wondering why the glue seems to break down under the free edge when the nail grows? I look under the free edge and there is a gap between the nail and the plastic tip.I use a glue that is recommended for the product. I prep the nail very well I have no idea why this could be happening. I was wondering if blending the tips would remedy this? I don't know because I would be blending the top not under the free edge?? Am I supposed to blend all tips? Ok I better quit trying to explain. Thank you

Answer
Sorry it took me a couple days to respond to you, I wasn't getting my regular notification e-mails that let me know I had pending questions!

Georgia, you ALWAYS blend your tips.  I am suprised you were not taught this in beauty school!  You need a smooth base to apply product, and blending properly applied tips is KEY.

When you apply your tips, the end of the well should sit EXACTLY the the free edge of the natural nail, and that should eliminate the gap.  Glue has nothing to do with placement of the nail.

If you are using a well-less tip, remember that these types of tips are meant for use on perfectly shaped nail beds.  There are different types of tips for just about every shape of nail plate there is, make sure you are using the type that suits your clients nails.

Also make sure that when you apply your tips, that they are not too tight, nor too wide.

Good luck!  Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
