Question
Hi! I have a question about my toe nails. All my toe nails except for the ones on my big toes have cracks or dents in them. I have no idea how this happened; I would say I take pretty good care of my feet. I have heard that this could be because I figure skate, but I don't skate that often anymore, and it is just recently I've been noticing the problems with my nails. Do you know what could cause cracks and dents in toe nails? What can I do about them? With the weather getting warmer, I'd like to be able to wear sandals. Thank you!

Answer
It could very well be old damage to your matrix (the root of your nails), just now poking its head up.  Your best bet?  See a podiatrist, and if s/he ok's it, go get a pedicure from a licensed, trained professional nail stylist, and have them show you how best to care for your toes at home to keep them their most aesthetically pleasing :)
