Nail Care & Manicures - gel nails

Expert: Liza Smith - 5/10/2008

Question
what happens when you apply the gel on thick layers?,it is normal for a nail o several nails to break even if they remain tight and have not blotces or air pockets and looks healthy?
will the breaks be the manicurist or the customer responsability even if a customer haven break a nail for a whole year?

Answer
Hi Elena
In general, gel is better applied in thinner layers to avoid under curing.
Of course every make of gel differs slightly, but the UV light will penetrate a thinner layer more effeciently than a thicker layer.
If the gel has been under cured, this would make the product weak, which could explain the breaking.

There could be other reasons, and without seeing the nails in person, its difficult to diagnose exactly who would be to blame.

hope this helps
