Nail Care & Manicures - How to help my nails to grow out stronger?

Expert: Ambercinque - 5/12/2008

Question
I got overlays for the very first time back on november for my wedding and I now my nails are growing out with white stains, dry, they cheap and break easily; I would like to know if there is something that I can do to help my nails grow stronger, I've been thinking to buy uv gel topcoat.

Answer
Hi Susana-
I would really condition your nails use cuticle oil 1x a day preferably at night before bed(that way you do not wash your hands). Apply a generous amount and rub in from just above the knuckles to tips. You can apply a gel topcoat but remember that polish can be drying as well so just be sure to hydrate your nails using the cuticle oil(it still is absorbed even with polish on) and a hydrating hand cream like solar lotion by creative. While they are growing keep them on the shorter side at first until the affected area grows out.
Good luck
AMber
