Nail Care & Manicures - lcn nails

Expert: Heather Reynosa-Davis - 5/6/2008

Question
I had LCN for about 3 years and all of a sudden my nail technician said I was allergic to it.  I did lose part of my thumb nail not all of it, I think maybe water must have gotten underneath.  Now I would like to get LCN again and my nail technician wants to try a slight coat of powder and glue then do LCN, but is not sure if she should omit a part of the LCN process.  I really want the LCN look again.  I absolutely love it.  Do you have any suggestions that might help me get the LCN again?

HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME!!!!!!

Answer
The only way to diagnose an allergy is to have an Allergy Specialist test you for one.

And if you have an allergy, it is FOREVER.  There is no backing off and trying again.

Traditional UV Gel utilizes toulene and gluteraldehyde, which are known allergens.  The only gel system I KNOW of that does NOT contain these cousins of formaldehyde are Brisa Gels by CND.  I am not familiar with LCN nail systems, so its best to go and look it up and research the product.

Touching the nail plate didn't cause your allergy, touching your SKIN with uncured product is what does it.  Go see a Dr., get an ok, and then go from there.

It's more than likely that you can still wear enhancements, but you may have to change systems and techs.

Good luck!
