Nail Care & Manicures/Blending gel on infill

Question
I was searching the web and came across your site - very informative, thanks.  I came across your site as I was looking for answers on gel infills.  I haven't been doing nails for very long and the first application seems to be going well, I have ironed out chipping due to the gel being too thin and lifting BUT I'm having all the problems in the world when doing an infill!!

I file the nail and remove any little lifts where the air is getting under the edge of the gel, but when I try to blend out the edge (file 240grit), I'm not able to.  If I leave it as is and apply more gel you can notice an obvious line where the gel has air under it and meets the nail??  It seems the more I file the more the gel continues to lift.  I could spend hours filing the gel back and I'm just lost on how to blend it correctly??  Can you please HELP.

Answer
Hi Lisa,

No problem I know what's wrong. You should change to a 180 grit file from a good brand (EzFlow, IBD) and hold the file in a 45 degree angle  to the nail plate right ABOVE the lifted part so towards your free edge (top of your nail) this way you will block off the lifted area and stop right there and fill up. Your way indeed will cause you to file until your whole nail is gone..

Let me know if it works!!

Have a good day and talk soon again.

Yours Sincerely,

David de  Rijke
