Question I have had solar nails for about two years with absolutely no problems. Then about six months ago, I noticed that my finger tips itched after I got fills. Within a week, the tips of my fingers turned hard and yellow and then the peeling began, but the itching stopped. I got fills again and the same thing happened. I had the nails removed. The dry skin, itching, and swelling went away. Last month I thought I'd try the nails again and at a different salon. The itching and peeling is back. Any ideas?
Answer Sorry Ruth, it does not sound nice what I am going to say but this looks like a case of allergy. Allergy can build up and come out any time sometimes after 1 year sometimes after 3. You can ask if they have changed the monomer from Solar but if they still use the same system your body has become allergic to acrylics. This has NOTHING to do with the brand they use whether it is EzFlow or OPI it does not matter.
My best advice is to switch to gel nails or Fiber glass as they have another chemical build up and your body might accept that.
I have this for years but my profession does not allow me NOT to use it so I will wait until my fingers will fall of but you try gel applications first.
