Ive had ingrowing toenails for most of my life. Both toes have had the nails removed twice and my right toe for the third time more recently. On my left foot i have no nig toenail whatsoever and its looking like my right toe is now going to be the same. I long to be able to wear open toe shoes. Are you able to sculpt toe nails for me that i can wear/stick on when i want to wear open shoes?
Many thanks
Erica
Answer Hi erica
Im sorry that you had your toenails removed, as the work that I have been developing with reconstruting toenails is more sucessful if there is still some Keratin (toe nail).
We use gel to sculpt out from the existing nail (it can be a very tiny amount of nail) and we use an opaque colout so that you cannot see through it as there is usually some discolouration.
The biggest problem if there is very little or no nail present is that nothing will "bond" to skin, as skin excretes sweat and oil.
This will push off the product or worse still, a bacterial infection can occur because of the damp, dark, moist envoirment that this will produce. This will show up as a bright green stain.
The only thing I can suggest for very occaisional use is the stick-ons that you can buy in the chemist, that are made for toes.
The big warning i will give you though is regarding the bacterial infection i just mentioned. if you wear the stick ons for too long at a time, or repeatedly, the bacterial infection WILL happen.
Also, do not wear them if your going swimming.
if you do wear them, before you stick them on, make sure your toes are VERY dry, and rub them with nail polish remover to totally dehydrate them.
Good luck, let me know how you get on.
