Question I have been seeing in many spa & nails that they are offering deep powder manicures which are at a higher price than a regular manicure or a french manicure. I just wanted to know what is a deep powder manicure, and what are it's benefits?
Answer This is a new one for me, as I have not yet seen or heard of "deep powder manicures." So, I did an internet search and both Yahoo and Google only return one hit: Beauty and Youth Spa in New York City.
Their website does, indeed, list a "deep powder manicure" at a slightly higher rate than their regular manicure, but it does not offer a description of the service. So I called them up.
It was explained to me that their "deep powder manicure" is the same as their standard manicure, only includes any necessary repair work done on any existing artificial enhancement products that the client may be wearing. They do not offer acrylic nail services themselves, however they do offer wraps.
I suspect the term "deep powder manicure" is on the list with other marketing terms such as "solar nails," "Laser nails," "Rockstar nails," and " diamond nails" which are just terms that various salons have invented to describe certain techniques to make them more appealing to consumers. These terms are pure marketing and don't refer to specific products or manufacturers, therefore they are subject to different interpretations from salon to salon. So it's possible that the service that Beauty and Youth Spa refers to as a "deep powder" manicure may not be the same as another salon's service by the same name.
