Question
HI Jan, great book you compiled. Being a native nashvillian and a history lover, it was really great to flip through. Anywho, I'm in a band called THE YOUNG REPUBLIC and we are interested in using the picture of the boy on the bike or maybe another one from your book as album artwork. How do we go about getting permission to do so?
thanks
Julian

Answer
Hey Julian,
Thanks for the compliment... and it's always nice to chat with a local native.
Anyhow, if you look in the back of the book all of the copyright info is listed for all of the photos and you're in luck because the one you asked about is from the Library of Congress and has no copyright restrictions on it.

I looked up the photo for you over at the LOC and here's a link

http://memory.loc.gov/service/pnp/nclc/03700/03707v.jpg

and here is a monster link with all of the picture info as well as another link to a higher res photo.

http://lcweb2.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/I?fsaall,app,brum,detr,swann,look,gottscho,p...

Hope this helps and let me know if you use the photo...it was as you might imagine was my fav and I'd love to see it in use on another cover.
Jan
