Question Good afternoon, just recieved a call from my older brother who just informed me that our grandfather was full bloodied Apache. How does thus effect me thanks
Answer Hi Paul,
I'm not really sure what you mean by your question. I think you may need to contact some other authorities and you should know what band of Apache your grandfather was, Jicarilla, Mescalero, Chiricahua, Lipan etc...
If you want tribal status, you need to contact the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Washington, DC. Make sure you have paperwork to prove your bloodline. It is a federal government department and they demand absolute proof.
If you think that there is money due to you, well, whatever your grandfather left you is it. The USA does not hand out money to citizens because they have Native Blood. That is a myth. If you live on a reservation you may be eligible, if you have tribal standing, to receive certain benefits of treaties.
