Question Dear Renee.
When I was listening to the song: new york, new york, I was always puzzeled by one prays of the lyrics. That is:
These little town blues, are melting away
Ill make a brand new start of it - in old new york
If I can make it there, Ill make it anywhere
Its up to you - new york, new york
What's the meaning of little town blues? Does it mean a kind of inferior complex because of coming from a small town?
Thank you very much in advance.

Answer Hi Zhang Li,
I sent this answer off days ago and just found out my computer must have eaten it! Sorry about that.
The little town blues describes the depression associated with living in a small town, being poor and not having a chance to succeed in a big way.
So it's more a feeling of hopelessness because of surrounding circumstances, rather than how someone feels about themselves. That's why, when in New York, those blues or depression melts away and the chance to "make a brand new start of it", is possible.
