Expert: Robin Date: 6/2/2008 Subject: Atthea Syriacus Plant
Question What is the possibilities of having Atthea Syriacus yellow color flowers?
Answer Do you mean Althea Syriacus aka Hybiscus Syriacus or Rose of Sharon?
The Yellow Rose of Sharon is Hypericum calycinum, which isn't an Althea or Hibiscus. It is also called Greater St John's Wort.
I have never seen a true yellow Rose of Sharon, but I expect it's possible. The closest I've seen is cream. You may be interested in the Hibiscus Rosa Sinesis which is quite similar and has yellow varieties, but thrives in the tropics. There are many other hibiscus species that are available in yellow as well.
