Expert: Brigid Kowalczyk Date: 11/19/2007 Subject: 19 Days Past Ovulation- Elevated Temps- Negative HPT
Question Hi,
I'm a 27 year old woman, with one child (15 months old.) He's still breastfeeding, but I've started ovulating again as of August. (I did have long cycles in Aug/Sept with ovulation around CD 28 in both months.)
We are trying to conceive again and using NFP. I chart my temperatures, cm, and cp. I've had my thyroid checked and that's normal.
My problem is this. I am on CD 38 of this cycle. I believe that ovulation occurred at CD 19. My temperatures have stayed above the coverline for the past 19 days, so today I took a HPT. It was negative. What are some causes of elevated temperatures besides pregnancy?
I have asked assistance of a few other friends that chart, and was told by one that I ovulated on CD 30, but I disagree with her.
Can you please advise me on my ovulation day, and other reasons for elevated temps besides pregnancy? I have put a call into my midwives office, but I have not hear back from any of them.
Thank you for your time.
Kat
Answer It is my understanding that elevated temperatures beyond day 14 usually means pregnancy. I would say that you are still not back to normal from the breastfeeding ammenorhea and that you probably did ovulate around CD 30 and, therefore, have to wait a few more days to see if the 14 days extend or end in your period again.
Please be patient. Your baby is only 15 months. Enjoy him while you can and the next baby will be right on time! He may have increased his nursing and that could effect your fertility.
