Question
Dear Brigid Kowalczyk
I am a married woman who use no instrument for birthcontrol except of the rythmic method for 8 years.now I am 35 years old and from 3 months ago till now I have spotting almost 3 weeks monthly! My physician made me do Pop smir test & Lab tests and sonography that all showed normal ranges, but I don't know why it happens again! but maybe it is due to my diet for 3-4 months in which I lost 10 pnds in 4 months and I have decreased my colory intake and increase exercise but I have a very stressful life now a days.
Would you please kindly tell me your opinion about why I have spotting 3 weeks a month? And what you think I have to do?

Answer
I think you are probably right when you consider the dieting, the weight loss and increasing exercise and stress as the causes of your current symptoms.  You may have inadvertently caused a change in your hormone levels that will take a while to get back to normal.

Even if your tests show normal, if you have gone from one end of the normal range to another, your body could respond as if it were not a normal result.

You can become more moderate in all those behaviors and see what happens.  Or you could wait and see what happens in a few more weeks.

Here is a website that seems to be addressing some of your concerns.  Perhaps you will find something that helps here.
