Question
Good Afternoon

This morning i was working out with a bar overhead and was lowering it on my back numerous times... I hit the boney part on the back of my neck that sticks out....it hurt at the time but I dealt with it... Now its really sore to touch and hurts sometimes to move down... It isnt unbearable pain, just really sore... .How do I know its nothing to worry about/  This was like 9 hours ago...

Answer
Hi Donny,

It sounds like you just bruised your first thoracic vertebrae,

There isn't much cushion between the skin and the bone in that spot, so it makes sense that it would be sore to the touch if you bruised it with a bar.  If you neck is stiff or getting stiff from the trauma you can go to my totally free Neck Pain Relief and follow along with the videos to release any inappropriate tension in your neck, but I do think you should be fine.
Here's the link to my neck pain relief page,

I do hope this was helpful.
